Just when we thought the new Orbea Rise range of electric mountain bikes couldn't be any better, mixing ultra-light weight with top shelf components at a price that should have scared many of its competitors back to the drawing board, along come 3 brand new models for 2022! Now with an all alloy frame, the 2022 Orbea Rise Alloy weighs a few pounds more but gets a brand new, larger capacity battery to keep you out enjoying the trails for longer. 2022 Orbea Rise Alloy - Its Roots. A year ago, we proudly introduced the new Orbea Rise model range for the first time, with a great degree of exclusivity. Offered initially to only their top tier dealers of the Wild FS range, not only was the Rise the lightest electric mountain bike on the market at its price and spec level, but it came at a price point that probably made many of its competitors eyes water. £8,999 isn't an inconsiderable sum of money for the top spec M-Ltd model, but with its competitors prices for a comparable ebikes circling the £12,000+ mark, the Rise gained popularity very quickly. This was seen most heavily with the M10 model at £6,999 which for the majority of "every day" mountain bikers, offered the best spec vs value proposition and pre-orders stacked up quickly. The entry level M20 model came in at just £5,599. 2022 Orbea Rise Alloy - Its Heart Like its carbon sibling, the beating heart of the Rise Alloy range is the Shimano EP8 motor with its unique RS firmware packet. Designed to offer "less E, more BIKE", the RS Power software was designed specifically for the EP8 motor and can only be found on the Orbea Rise models. Highly responsive and super efficient, the EP8 motor offers its assistance where you need it most, and when you're at your most powerful. Cadences of 70rpm+ are where it really comes alive on the trails. The 2022 Rise Alloy gets a brand new battery. One of the best features of the Rise range is their efficiency. Despite its comparatively small 360Wh battery, the Carbon model was good for 3-4+ hours of riding with a decent amount of climbing thrown in the mix. The new 2022 Orbea Rise Alloy models now have an even larger 540Wh built in battery. Because the system is so efficient and the bike so light, the 540Wh battery has a capacity equivalent to around 800Wh when compared to the batteries of Bosch, Yamaha and other systems. The previously offered optional Range Extender is also directly compatible. Adding another 252Wh, it bumps the total capacity on the bike to a shade under 800Wh. With an efficiency rate of around 1.5x a normal eBike battery, this equates to circa 1200Wh from an equivalent Bosch system. 2022 Orbea Rise Alloy Models Offered in 3 different models, along with its larger battery the specification of the Alloy range of Rise bikes has been carefully considered with a much wider field of riders in mind. Orbea Rise H10 Topping the model range for 2022, the Orbea Rise H10 gets all of the bells and whistles. A Fox FLOAT DPS Factory rear shock and Fox 34 FLOAT Factory FIT4 140mm front forks with matching Kashima coat keep you firmly stuck to the trail. The gearing is taken care of by a Shimano XT M8100 12 speed group set and the whole party is bought to a halt by a set of Shimano XT M8100 twin piston anchors. Priced at £6,399, its a snip of the price of its competition. More Info - Orbea Rise H10 Orbea Rise H15 The middle weight contender and we expect to be the most popular option from the new Alloy range, the 2022 Orbea Rise H15 gets a Fox FLOAT X Performance EVOL rear shock and Fox 36 FLOAT Performance Grip-3 150mm front forks. Like the H10, the H15 also gets a Shimano XT M8100 derailleur but uses SLX M7100 shifters. Braking is provided by a set of Shimano M6100 hydraulic discs and the whole package will set you back a very reasonable £5,499. More Info - Orbea Rise H15 Orbea Rise H30 Although the entry level model of the range, the 2022 Orbea Rise H30 still offers impeccable value. Priced at £4,899, you'll find it equipped with Marzocchi Bomber Z2 140mm front forks and a Fox FLOAT DPS Performance rear shock. It also gets a Shimano SLX group set and MT410 brakes. As an introduction to super lightweight trail and mountain biking, its doesn't get much better than this! More Info - Orbea Rise H30 Is the new Alloy framed Orbea Rise the best value new bike of the 2022 model year? If its not, its certainly up there. Every year, manufacturers are looking to get more from less. More power. Less Weight. Likewise, owners are also looking for the same. More bike. Less money. Very few bikes tick all of the boxes but for the last 12 months, the carbon versions have been doing just that. Weighing in at sub 20Kg and offering a maximum 60Nm of torque with a battery capacity that'll keep you out on the trails all day is hard enough, but to do it at a price which makes them a lot more accessible is something really special and for that alone, the Rise Alloy models get a big tick from E-Bikeshop this year. Especially from a company still painting and putting everything together by hand!
With the door having closed on last years bikes almost as quickly as it opened and the industry dogged by supply chain delays and component shortages, we're very excited to announce the launch of model year 2022 Cube electric hybrid, town and touring bikes with newly revised specifications and colourways. Which 2022 Cube Electric Hybrid, Town or Trekking bike should you buy? Did you know that for model year 2022, Cube are manufacturing 198 different ebikes (yes, we counted!) including a few brand new models? Its a huge number from just one of dozens of manufacturers and a mind-numbing minefield if you don't know what you're looking for in a market already crowded with choice. Each year we carefully consider the specification and price of every bike from each of our manufacturer partners and carefully narrow it down to the very best options based on end user value. Not only does this remove the headache of trying to work out which models are best suited to UK terrain and use cases, but it also means that no matter which option you choose from us, you can be sure that its already been carefully considered by ebike experts with over a decade in the industry to make sure you get the very best specification for your money. Often, this can mean that although a bike is £100 more than the next model down, it might offer £300 more in component value! For 2022, we've chosen 6 models to cover the touring, hybrid, town and leisure riders looking for a robust, German built, Bosch driven ebike with a price tag that makes their competitors eyes water! These are broken down by Cube into two key model variants. The Touring Hybrid, and the Kathmandu Hybrid. 2022 Cube Touring Hybrid models 2022 Cube Touring Hybrid One 500 Offered in two frame styles - Crossbar and Trapeze (often referred to as "Uni"), the 2022 Cube Touring Hybrid One 500 is an the entry level model in the "Touring Hybrid" range, but still offers a huge amount of value. The Cube Touring Hybrid One is the perfect entry into the eBike world. Whether you're looking to nip to the shops, drop the car or public transport from your daily commute or just get out and enjoy the local B roads, cycle trails and forest paths, the Touring Hybrid One is "your bike companion for all occasions". Built in mudguards, side stand, lights and pannier rack are equipped as standard, leaving you nothing but to get out and enjoy the fresh air! Despite being their entry level offering, it still packs a huge amount of features into its modest £2,599 price tag. 100mm travel front suspension, 9 speed Shimano gearing and hydraulic disc brakes roll effortlessly low drag and very comfortable Schwalbe Big Ben tyres. Their extra width and volume make for a super comfortable ride on a bike with a upright "Dutch" geometry. Featuring much of the specification of last years Pro model, its had an upgrade for 2022 and now uses the Generation 3 Performance Line motor with 65Nm of torque rather than the older Active Line model and its 500Wh Bosch battery will keep you moving for up to 140 miles. More Info - Cube Touring Hybrid One 500 2022 2022 Cube Touring Hybrid Pro 500 You would be forgiven for thinking at first glance that this is the same bike. True, its built on the same frame as the above model, but this is the 2022 Cube Touring Hybrid Pro. Designed for the same use case as the Touring Hybrid One, the Pro model offers the same relaxed and upright riding position, but with a few neat extra features for only another £200. Priced at £2,799, the Touring Hybrid Pro has all of the benefits of the One model, but with the addition of further comfort enhancements in the form of a user weight adjustable suspension seat post and adjustable handlebar stem. The rest of the bike sees some specification tweaks too. A drive train upgrade sees it gain an extra two gears from the Shimano Deore groupset, the brakes get a small upgrade but the biggest difference on the bars is the addition of the Bosch Intuvia display. Sitting centrally on the bars and controlled by buttons conveniently placed next to the riders left thumb, its screen is much larger and more easily read on bumpy terrain and can also be unclipped and removed in one easy motion for added security. More Info - Cube Touring Hybrid Pro 500 2022 2022 Cube Touring Hybrid EXC 500 Another £200 for another serious value specification tweak. The 2022 Cube Touring Hybrid EXC 500 sits at the very top end of the Touring Hybrid model line-up, but at only £2,999 it still bats away its competitors in its class and price range in the value stakes. Much of its specification increase is aimed at those looking to go further and do more on the Touring Hybrid frame platform, but dont need the extra power of the Generation 4 motor fitted in the Kathmandu models. The Shimano brakes on the EXC model get an upgrade to twin piston models. If you live in a very hilly area and plan to do your shopping or tow a child or dog trailer on your new eBike, these can be great at pulling up to a halt when heading down hill. Likewise, Shimano XT group set normally found on mountain bikes provides another gear, bringing the total to 12 with a 10-51t rear cassette - This ultra wide gearing is designed to tackle the roughest off-road climbs, so its very well suited to lugging extra weight up hill over long distances. The final upgrade is to the front forks. Switching from a coil fork to an air fork with a lock out further improves the comfort and handling of the bike and isn't something you normally find on this style of bike. Air forks are generally considered a very premium component and more commonly found on mountain bikes. When you consider the component cost of the upgrades to this bike, it really is an absolute stand out model for any ability or type of rider! More Info - Cube Touring Hybrid EXC 500 2022 2022 Cube Nuride Hybrid Performance Allroad 625 The 2022 Cube Nuride Hybrid Performance Allroad is a new model to us for 2022 and was chosen to fill a gap in usage case/demand identified by our showroom staff. Somewhat of a "crossover bike", the 2022 Cube Nuride blends the versatility of a hybrid leisure bike with the Touring Hybrid models, with the geometry of a hard tail mountain bike. A less upright seating position puts riders in the seat in a way that will feel more familiar if coming from mountain bikes, or where a completely upright position isn't required. The wheels are the same as those used on the Touring Hybrid and Kathmandu models, but since this is a bike designed for more use on tarmac and paved roads than off-road, its fitted with fast rolling Schwalbe Land Cruiser tyres. These have a continual band of centre tread to minimum rolling resistance on-road, but the extra width and more aggressive tread pattern on the shoulders will keep you in line if you do need to venture off the beaten track! The Nuride features the same lights, mudguards and side stand from the Touring models, but doesn't come with a pannier rack. If you prefer the mountain bike feel to your every day bike but do want a pannier rack, they exist as a bolt on option, so its not off the table! Based on showroom discussion, we expect the majority of these to be bought by men who don't want a traditional Hybrid style bike, but still want to take advantage of the features they have over using their hard tail mountain bike on the road but as with all bikes, there is no right or wrong, men's or women's. There is only "fit for purpose, comfortable, and on budget". More Info - Cube Nuride Hybrid Performance Allroad 625 20222022 Cube Kathmandu Hybrid Models 2022 Cube Kathmandu Hybrid Pro 625 As i write, the very first of the 2022 Cube Kathmandu Hybrid Pro 625 bikes are being offloaded from a lorry in our loading bay and as always, they all already have homes - most of them ordered weeks or months ago. The Kathmandu models are some of the most highly sought after bikes in their category, and we can never buy enough of them. Supply of Cube bikes is always hotly contested between dealers but this is a model on which actually Cube place limits on the number we can order! The Kathmandu Hybrid Pro shares much of the specification you find on the Touring Hybrid EXC at £2,899. The Kathmandu is £3,199, but what you get for this is quite staggering. Again, with a keen eye on comfort over long distances, the 2022 Kathmandu Hybrid Pro 625 is based on the same upright riding position frame as the Touring Hybrid models, but a keen eye will spot that the crank area is different. The first and biggest upgrade over the Touring Hybrid models is the motor. Fitted with the latest and most powerful Bosch Generation 4 Performance CX motor with a whopping 85Nm of torque, this market leading motor is only normally found at home in £4,000+ mountain bikes. This extra power has to come from somewhere, and Cube generally tend to stick to offering the Bosch's largest 625Wh battery when using this motor to get the best from it, with a range of up to 160 miles on a single charge. As a "do it all" bike, the the Kathmandu Hybrid Pro also gets the same set of 100mm travel air forks found on the EXC. Again, trickled down technology from the mountain bike sector offers a premium feel and increased performance for those who need the very best from their bike over longer distances, or when carrying more weight on the bike. The Kathmandu name exists for a reason! More Info - Cube Kathmandu Hybrid Pro 625 2022 2022 Cube Kathmandu EXC The final model in this product category from Cube for 2022 is the new Kathmandu Hybrid EXC. If you look closely, you'll see that while the Touring Hybrid and the Kathmandu models normally all share the same frame through the model line up with only the specification of brakes, gears and other components changing, this is a totally different frame altogether. The battery door and motor area are brand new and that can only mean one thing... Sadly, we have to sign a rock solid non-disclosure agreement when these things happen and there's absolutely nothing we can tell you about why its changed except that not only is it for the better, but we think that lots of other manufacturers are going to playing catch up with this one for the next 12 months! At £3,599, its £400 more than the Pro model and benefits from a upgraded air fork over the version fitted to the Pro, along with the same upgraded 12 speed Shimano Deore gearing and twin piston brakes. Unfortunately, this is as much as we're allowed to say at this time, but the embargo on remaining info lifts when the currently hidden technology is officially launched to the public on 31st August 2021. UPDATE - With the embargo lifted, we can confirm the new Kathmandu Hybrid EXC comes with the new Bosch Smart System. A revised motor housing to accommodate new connector styles, the bike also features the latest 750Wh battery and new Kiox 300 display. More Info - Cube Kathmandu EXC 750 2022 Cube 2022 Touring eBike Range Conclusion As with every model year, we expect that 2022 Cube Electric Hybrid, Town and Touring Bikes will be our fastest moving products. The "early release" models which launched in July are already selling quickly, as are the remaining bikes they launched on 3rd August. At time of writing, we've sold around 20% of our allocation of bikes from Cube for 2022, meaning the model year could be as short as 5 months in terms of stock availability and leaving customers and dealers alike, scrabbling for what's left to get hold of again. If you're looking for an exceptionally well built German bike with an ultra reliable drive train from a manufacturer who works tirelessly to bring its customer the most advanced and best value bikes year on year, you can find the full 2022 Cube model range here.

Effortlessly blending style with safety, minimalism with performance, the new Vibe H30 and Vibe H30 EQ are one of our most exciting and eagerly anticipated 2021 models - available in 4 colours. 2021 Orbea Vibe H30 - A new "Enough Energy" concept for urban lifestyles. Continuing the legacy of the Gain F25 and F30 from 2020, these new flat bar road bikes from Orbea are a brand new concept designed as a sophisticated accessory to complement your own sense of style without overshadowing it. An incredibly nimble, stylish and reliable personal transport tool that can be easily manoeuvred in tight spaces in town, homes or offices - the new Vibe H30 and H30 EQ is the lightweight city eBike designed for riders looking for style, range and freedom in a new, revolutionary, fully integrated and low-fuss platform. With 40Nm of torque, enough battery capacity for your daily city commute plus some added exploring, the Vibe H30 and H30 EQ offer a new way to ride - minimalist, sleek and integrated but without the bulky traditional eBike components - a "sensation that is less 'e' and more 'bike'". Orbea Urban Geometry With feedback from the many thousands of riders who bought the previous generation flat bar road bikes from Orbea, the new Orbea Urban Geometry platform anticipates both how and when riders will use their eBikes in urban and ultra-urban environments. A more upright riding position for better vision and comfort keeps you feeling more secure, extending your enjoyment of the bike to uses you might never have considered. The bike is perfectly balanced, with responsive and predictable steering that doesn't feel too fast, but retains a highly reactive feel. Orbea Lightness Weighing up to 10kg less than traditional city styled eBikes, the Vibe H30 and H30 EQ are both playful in their handling on the road but easily manoeuvrable in the tight spaces of urban homes and office spaces. Designed to complement the inner city "grab and go" lifestyle, they offer riders new and old a totally new, minimalist riding experience. With a single button press, the bike comes to life underneath you and is immediately ready for any commute, explore or leisure ride. Integration with ICR Plus A completely redesigned frame, setting it apart from its predecessor, all remaining external cables have been further integrated to provide a completely sleek frame aesthetic and is optimised for both conventional and electric shifting systems. Its brand new proprietary headset spacers allow smooth airflow with easy adjustment. Integrated Lighting When Orbea say "fully integrated lighting", they really mean it. Many eBikes now feature built in lights, but no manufacturer has achieved it with the same style we've come to expect from this niche Spanish brand on the Vibe H30 and H30 EQ. Built directly into the base of the stem and drawing a tiny amount of power from the eBike battery, this newly designed lighting technology further draws on Orbea's concept to effortlessly integrate both safety and style. As well as the brand new daytime running light design the Vibe H30 EQ also comes with a larger, bar mounted "full beam" lamp. Orbea "EQ" Models EQ or "Equipped" models from Orbea use exactly the same frame and equipment as the standard models, but with the addition of manufacturer supplied accessories. EQ models come with a set of integrated mud guards, a sturdy pannier rack, side stand and a full beam headlight in addition to the stem mounted LED daytime running lamp. Perfect for winter riding, commuting with a laptop and paperwork or just a quick trip to the shops. The Orbea OC Bag is available as an optional accessory and as well as latching on and off the rack in a single movement, and can also be turned into a backpack for convenience! Ebikemotion X35 Plus As with the "Gain" range, the Ebikemotion X35 Plus is the very heart of the "Enough Energy" concept the Vibe models are built on. The rear hub motor is the basis of a highly sophisticated drive system and provides a smooth and dependable amount of assistance in a way that's designed to amplify your own power is an incredibly discrete way. It really doesn't look like an eBike at all and provides almost completely drag free pedalling. Orbea's Torque Simulation Algorithm directly mirrors the rider input to provide maximum power when you need it, but preserves range when you're spinning freely. Batteries are often the most noticeable component of an eBike but are also a bit of an eyesore and detract from the aesthetics of the frame. Being an incredibly light bike with a highly efficient drive system, Orbea have eliminated the need for a bulky, high output battery and have integrated it directly into the downtube, allowing for a more sleek, stylish finish. Range Extender The Vibe H30 and H30 EQ are designed for long days in the saddle, but some days just demand more from you. The optional Range Extender offers more bike. More miles. More hills. This completely unique and patented extension of the built in battery offers an additional 208Wh on top of the internal 248Wh battery, bringing total capacity to 450Wh - a whopping 70% boost in range. Compatible with all Gain F, M, and D models as well as the full 2021 Orbea Vibe model line-up, we hold limited stock of this Orbea OEM product for our own eBike customers and you can find them here. Seen enough? Order your new 2021 Orbea Vibe H30 or Vibe H30 EQ now!
Brand new for the 2021 model year, Orbea have revealed the Rise in four model variants and 3 colour options - The M20 base model, M10, M-Team and the top of the range M-Ltd model. Each is available in Coal Blue/Red-Gold, Ice Green/Ocean and Sap White/Green Fog. Here's how and why the new 2021 Orbea Rise is setting new standards in eMTB trail riding... RS Concept - A new ride philosophy. RS or "Rider Synergy" is a newly developed riding experience concept aimed squarely at enhancing the joy of traditional trail riding, but with a level of assistance designed to feel, in Orbea's own words "as alive as your own body". The brand new Orbea Rise range of eBikes for 2021 are designed to be effortlessly minimalistic. With no bulky or unnecessary components used in the build process, the Rise models retain the feel of a traditional trail bike -bringing you closer to the trail and ride. The new Rise offers a completely integrated system built on their 4 key elements of Power, Range, Interface and Weight. RS Power A brand new concept with Shimano. Armed with the well thought out concept and a dream of a "rider first" super-light all trail frame to deliver less "e" and more "Bike" to dramatically change the eMTB landscape, Orbea were granted early access to the Shimano EP8 drive system and immediately realised it was the solution they had been searching for to fit with their newly formed "RS" riding philosophy. Working directly alongside Shimano, Orbea developed their own highly responsive and super-efficient RS firmware for the EP8 to make the best use of their newly designed electronics and battery system. Weighing in at just 2.6KG and utilising Orbea's own software and electronics, the drive system delivers its peak output of 60Nm at cadences of 75-95rpm - exactly where experienced riders are at their own peak of power and efficiency. RS Range Interestingly, Orbea, along with a few other manufacturers for 2021 have done away with a range figure in miles/kilometres for the Rise but promise it's designed for long days in the saddle, stating that this is a bike intended for "8 hours and over 4,000m of climbs in Eco mode". Along with the rest of the Orbea range of eBikes, not only does the bike come with a custom designed internal battery with a 360Wh rating, they also offer an optional 252Wh bolt on range extender, taking the total capacity to over 600Wh. In keeping with the RS concept, this dramatically lighter than average bike with super-economical power consumption extends battery life by over 1.5x - In real terms, this means that on its integral 360Wh battery alone, its range is comparable with a 540Wh battery capacity on a typical crank driven eBike. Housed in a brand new all-alloy construction case and using the latest in lithium-ion cell technology, its internal 21700 form factor lithium ion cells offer much higher energy density, with much less space and weight. Citing "over 4 hours of ride time", the battery weighs just 2.2kg with the optional range extender offering an additional 70% capacity - comparable to a huge 900Wh on a conventional eBike. RS Interface Riders spend hours and often thousands of pounds removing weight from their bikes. Carbon this, hydroformed alloy that. The electrical system on eBikes makes up the bulk of the weight over a non-eBike and having already saved considerable weight from the motor and battery system, Orbea have elected to do away with the extra wiring, switches and screens of a traditional eBike but this isn't a compromise, this is all a critical part of the RS philosophy the Rise is built on. The power button is hidden neatly next to the bottom bracket and all wiring is internally routed. The RS interface is sleek, but doesn't lack the option for expandability. The configuration offers a discrete rocker style switch to control assistance modes along with a small inline junction box with two LED lights to provide the readout of current mode while also transmitting wireless data. Built with direct and unique compatibility with the Garmin IQ smart watch, you can see on the fly your support mode, assistance level, cadence, range and speed. There is also an accompanying app where data recording and readout is able to be played back, giving a much greater in depth look at your riding style and performance. RS Weight Weighing in at as little as 16.5kg, the 2021 Orbea Rise was designed to provide assistance and peak torque inside the range of normal, high-quality trail riding componentry. Lightning fast direction changes and playful handling aren't something normally associated with eBikes but with the sporty nature of the Rise model range, it'll feel just like riding your conventional trail rig! Absolutely everything was considered when shaving weight from the new Rise range. The bare frame weighs just 2.3kg but it doesn't stop there. Orbea, in the same way they did with Shimano for their custom EP8 tune, have worked directly with E*Thirteen to develop an exclusive alloy forged 32T chainring for the EP8, saving weight while keeping the perfect gearing. You'll also find fitted to the 2021 Orbea Rise range, their own custom tyre. Working in partnership with Maxxis, they've created an "EXO+" version of the Rekon trail tyre and this will remain an Orbea Exclusive. 2021 Orbea Rise Models The model range is broken down into 4 individual models, each available in 3 colourways completely unique to the Rise range; 2021 Orbea Rise M20 The entry level contender at only £5,399 and featuring 140mm travel Fox 34 Float Performance forks, a Fox Float DPS rear shock and a complete Shimano SLX group set, its an aggressively priced bike with fantastic value when lined up against its competitors. Orbea 2021 Rise M-20 E-Bike 2021 Orbea Rise M10 The M10 is the mid-spec variant of the Rise line-up. Much like the Orbea Wild FS M10, it offers the highest level of value in components versus cost when compared to its competitors and is generally the most popular model at just £6,799. Featuring Fox 36 Float Factory 150 GRIP2 forks, DPX2 Factory rear shock and Shimano XT gearing, we expect this bike to be the fastest selling option of the range. Orbea 2021 Rise M-10 E-Bike 2021 Orbea Rise M-Team Closing in on the top end of the 2021 Rise model line-up, the Orbea Rise M-Team features Fox 36 Float Factory 150 Grip2 forks, a DPX2 Factory rear shock but a step up to a full Shimano XTR group set, along with a Fox Transfer Factory Kashima coated dropper post and extra carbon componentry. At £7,999, the M-Team is priced towards the top end of the scale but its spec is still considerably higher than its competition. Orbea 2021 Rise M-Team E-Bike 2021 Orbea Rise M-Ltd The flagship model and very pinnacle of the "RS Concept" and philosophy, the M-Ltd tips the scales at just 16.5kg! This ultra-lightweight trail bike features Fox 34 Factory 140mm FIT4 Kashima coated forks, a custom tuned and Kashima coated Float DPS Factory rear shock, full Shimano XTR group set along with carbon handlebars and super light RaceFace NEXT SL XC wheels. We often get asked what is the lightest electric mountain bike you can buy? Most eMTB are 24kg+ however the Lapierre eZesty weights in at just 18kg! We presented the Lapierre eZesty this year. It's one of the most versatile electric mountain bikes as it can be used as a regular mountain bike too! The rider can remove the whole motor and battery assembly (shaving 4kg!) and use an (optional) blanking plate if you want to ride un-assisted. The 2020 Lapierre eZesty electric mountain bike has been designed from the ground up. It's aimed at riders who want the feel of a normal MTB but with a little helping hand on the hills and to cover more trails in a day. It's the first of it's kind and aimed at a totally different market to the regular electric mountain eBikes. How the lightest eBike was designed? The bike is designed by Nico Vouillez (10x World MTB Champion!). Being an avid MTB'er he wanted a bike that felt natural to ride. But with the fun of the assistance where you need it. The engineers at Lapierre HQ in Dijon, France got to work. Tasked to design a bike that is a regular bike and an electric bike at one, no easy feat! They did this by using a lightweight carbon fibre frame as the platform for the eZesty. They completely integrated the Fazua eSystem within the frame. From here, the Lapierre eZesty was born! Lightweight Fazua eDrive System Not only is the Fazua drive one of the lightest systems on the market (battery & motor combined). But it also allows the user to completely remove from the frame if required. Different to any other eBike system on the market! In doing this brings the weight down to just 14kg! Compare that to other 160mm travel bikes... Not only is the Fazua drive lightweight, but it's completely 'drag-free' when outside of the assistance zones. It does this by disengaging the motor when not in use, offering the rider a much more natural pedal feel. The renowned eMTB Magazine had a chance to test the Fazua drive and said:- "We had a chance to test the Fazua motor on a XC bike before and we have to admit we’re truly impressed with its natural feel. We hope that the E-Zesty AM will deliver an equally natural riding experience. Climbing with an extra boost of power in your legs and descending with the performance of a “normal” enduro bike." The Fazua drive system actually won multiple awards as soon as it was released. The most prestigious is the Design & Innovation award. The judges said:- "With previously unattainable dimensions, the compact size of the FAZUA Evation motor ushers in a new benchmark for lightweight e-bikes with a natural ride sensation and no visible motor. Made in Germany, this motor is built with a modular form and demonstrates the potential to really shift how pedal-assist bikes are designed. The FAZUA motor not only rides with a very conventional feel, but it also generates virtually no resistance when the motor is deactivated. Another benefit comes from its small size, which hugely benefits handling. The entire motor and battery unit can also be removed when desired and replaced with a plastic guard to transform the FAZUA-equipped e-bike into a conventional bike in just a few steps." When you combine the Fazua drive with the lightweight Lapierre carbon frame, carbon wheels & bars on the eZesty AM LTD Ultimate 2020. The whole electric bike comes in at just 18kg! Compare this to other top-end eBikes on the market typically between 22-26kg. It just shows exactly how lightweight this electric mountain bike is. Lapierre eZesty 2020 eMTB Range The Lapierre eZesty range comprises of two models. Both models feature the full 150mm all-mountain carbon fibre frame, Fazua drive eSystem, 27.5"+ wheelset & built-in dropper post with stealth cabling. But there are some spec differences between the two models as follows:- Lapierre eZesty AM LTD Ultimate 2020 This is the top-spec model featuring factory series Kashima coated Fox Float suspension. The bike is equipped with a Sram Eagle X01 12 speed drivetrain, coupled with Sram Guide RE twin-pot disc brakes. Lapierre finishes with a special carbon wheelset & RaceFace handlebars. Priced at £6,699 / More Info - Lapierre eZesty AM LTD Ultimate Lapierre eZesty AM 9.0 Ultimate 2020 The eZesty 9.0 is the base model in the Lapierre 2020 range. Featuring Fox suspension front and rear, a full Sram NX 12 speed drivetrain and Sram Guide brakes. Finished on Lapierre's own Boost+ wheelset wrapped with Maxxis High Roller tyres. Priced at £5,299 / More Info - Lapierre eZesty AM 9 Ultimate Lapierre eZesty Review Although they've not been out that long we do have clients out on the trails on eZesty's already. One sent us his review (which you can read in full on our site), but here's a snippet which pretty much sums up the bike:- "The lightweight of the battery and motor obviously has an impact on the power assist performance. The first impression when using the power assist is that you do not get the boost that you get from a Shimano or Bosch unit, and you won't be pulling wheelies uphill, which you can almost do in turbo mode on other models. However, the power delivery of the Fazua unit is perfectly suited to this lightweight bike, and although subtle, is more than adequate for the most challenging of climbs. The important factor is being in the correct gear to get the cadence right for the conditions. This will give the perfect amount of assist for any condition." Summary for Lapierre eZesty 2020 It's great to see an eMTB designed and dedicated to true MTB'ers. Some don't want a heavy powerhouse that takes over the ride. Some riders just want that bit of help on the hills to enjoy the descents as if on a normal non-electric bike. The carbon frame brings amazing lines to the eZesty, coupled with Fazua's stealthy integration and full internal cable routing throughout. Could this be the first-ever eBike which doesn't actually look like an eBike? Top Stealth Tip: Not many people know this, but as we are an authorised Fazua service centre, we have access to diagnostics to connect to the bike. From here we can make lots of changes and tests. But most interestingly, we can preset a ride mode. This means that you could completely remove the control assembly from the handlebars for a complete stealth look! This would leave nothing visible on the outside, at all. But it would mean you'd not be able to change assistance mode. So you'd want to determine what mode was your favourite; before doing so. We actually have the new Lapierre eZesty in stock right now ahead of the 2020 season! Why not book an appointment to come and take a look? Did you know we also have a test bike here if you wanted to swing your leg over to see just how good this machine is! The Haibike FLYON range of eBikes is one of the most anticipated electric bike ranges for 2020. Haibike was awarded 'Best Brand' by the readers of eMountainbike Magazine and it's the first time ever that they've created a completely in-house eBike system, codenamed: FLYON. Jump to a specific section or keep scrolling to read the whole Haibike FLYON article:- - What is Haibike FLYON? - Highlights of the 2020 Haibike FLYON eBike system - Highlights of the 2020 Haibike eConnect system - Full range review of the 2020 Haibike FLYON models - When are the Haibike FLYON 2020 bikes arriving? - Where can I find Haibike FLYON parts & accessories? - Where can I find Haibike FLYON geometry charts? - Where can I find Haibike FLYON user manuals? - Where can I read reviews of the new Haibike FLYON's? - Where can I try out the new Haibike FLYON TQ motor? What is Haibike FLYON? Haibike have been secretly plugging away in their design and research lab in Schweinfurt, Germany to bring, for the first time ever, an exclusive new electric bike product for 2020. Offering more torque (50% more), assistance (200% more) & range (26% more) than ever before… It’s called FLYON! Head of Haibike engineering, Ingo Beutner, says:- "The eBike as we know it was completely rethought in order to launch the next generation of ePerformance. With FLYON we have been able to create a system according to our understanding and concepts. This system enables eBike riding as it should feel in our opinion: self-evidently and powerful. All components seamlessly integrate into the overall design, which convinces with a high level of integration." Highlights of the 2020 Haibike FLYON eBike system FLYON Motor System The motor is designed by a company called TQ. This company designs & manufactures direct-current motors for the control of modern satellites. TQ has used this technology to create the HPR 120S crank drive eBike motor. The motor provides up to 120Nm of torque and assistance levels up to 820%. Thanks to the integrated freewheel, the bicycle can be pedalled just like a regular bike without a motor. When the drive is disengaged, no internal components are moving. It’s super-efficient with ultra-high torque and ability, specifically designed to meet the demands of eBike riders. FLYON Battery System Haibike have designed all the components from the ground up using all their eBike experience to date. The battery uses a whopping 630Wh high-density cell to deliver a huge range. The optional 10Ah quick charger charges this high capacity 630Wh battery to 80% within just 60 minutes! It can be charged both on or off the bike as the battery slides out the frame. FLYON Display Controls The system offers 5 levels of assist:- ECO, LOW, MID, HIGH & XTREME. The new colour TFT display offers all the rider credentials in a neat, compact and removable display. Whilst the Haibike remote (located to the left of the bars) is quick and simple to navigate the modes. Five lovely bright colours illuminate to show the assistance mode selected alongside the same colours on the display. Easy to see at a quick glance while riding! FLYON Carbon Frameset All of this built into a brand new 2020 CARBON frameset by Haibike. This not only brings the weight down but allows complete integration of the system. It also allows Haibike to do special things like integrating lights into the rear swingarm. Not forgetting a front light to match too. All of the cables run through the 2020 carbon frame using specialist channels, so everything looks really neat. They’ve managed to squeeze in their Haibike ‘MRS’ (Modular Rail System) so all the Haibike accessories (Bottle, Lock, Tool Bag etc) fit onto the frame too. In true Haibike fashion, the motor is integrated with a skid plate incorporated too, this adds protection & offers complete integration. Lastly Haibike finish off this new frameset with a stealth dropper seat post, built-in, so again no cables are exposed. They have built in the speed sensor within the rear swingarm and instead of a magnet on the spokes, the sensor is built into the rear disc. Highlights of the 2020 Haibike eConnect system Following the successful first edition of the eConnect system, a new upgraded version - eConnect 2.0 has been released. This comes built-in FREE-OF-CHARGE on all 2020 Haibike FLYON electric bikes. Offering a new modern design, a user-friendly interface and extended features for 2020. In a nutshell, Haibike eConnect tracks the bike’s movements works as a GPS / Anit-Theft device and tracks routes you take on your electric bike. It has 'smart features' like text a family member with your location if the rider has a fall or alert you to your bike's movements if you have it parked up somewhere. For 2019 eConnect gets an improved route recording and a brand new user interface. It’s available in more countries, more languages and eBike dealers can access bike information too. You can add more than one bike, meaning all of the families bikes can be controlled by the touch of a button. There’s a new app too. All current users can upgrade to the eConnect V2.0 for free! We include links to eMTB News & e-Mountain Bike Magazine to name a couple. All of these are real riding reviews on actual bike terrain. Let's not forget that Haibike actually won the prestigious Design & Innovation Awards this year too. The judges said:- "Haibike’s new FLYON series is probably the biggest developmental leap since the invention of the eMTB, once again proving the brand’s pioneering spirit! At the heart of the futuristic-looking carbon frame is the FLYON HPR120S motor from TQ Systems, which is the most powerful pedelec motor currently available, offering a full 120 Nm of torque. While the motor perfectly integrated into the overall concept, the bike is full of individual solutions regarding design and technology. All features are controlled by a specially developed remote and a large colour display provides the rider with all the relevant information. Haibike has succeeded in developing an eMTB that is much more than the sum of its parts." In addition to the NDURO 10.0 review listed above, Rob (From eMTB Forums) actually did a follow-up review on the AllMtn 8.0 too around some amazing trails in Itlay. Earlier this year we visited Scott in Switzerland to preview the new 2020 Genius eRide electric bikes. Powered by the mighty Bosch Gen 4 system. We've been working alongside Scott now for some years, offering their eBike range in the UK. In July they invited us out to Switzerland to their brand new HQ to preview the latest line up of 2020 Scott electric bikes. Whilst we viewed the whole range, there was one particular range of eBikes which caught our eye - The newly designed Scott Genius eRide range for 2020. The 150mm travel Genius electric mountain bikes have been popular for many years given their versatility as a one-bike-does-it-all trail machine. For 2020, the range is completely revamped to include the new Bosch Gen 4 Performance CX motor & 625Wh battery setup. There are 3 main models in the range, with the top 700 TUNED model featuring a brand new carbon frame - a first for Scott in their eMTB line-up. Whilst we'll be offering the Genius eRide range with 29" wheels. The frame on the 2020 Scott Genius is completely interchangeable for both 27.5+ and 29" wheels. This is because of Scott's clever flip chip technology, simply change the wheels and flip the chip to retain the same BB height for any riders preference on wheels. The Scott Genius eRide bikes have a 625Wh battery as standard within the frame. The user can opt for the 'Range Booster' which adds a secondary 500Wh Bosch battery to a specific mount within the frame which fits onto the bottle cage slots. This results in a total range power of 1125Wh for maximum miles on your eBike without worry. Scott developed a fork stop headset for the Genius eRIDE. It restricts the range of motion to 60 degrees, preventing the fork crown from impacting the frame, protecting you and your new Scott Genius electric bike. The new Bosch Performance CX Gen 4 eBike motor is 48% smaller which allows the Scott engineers to integrate it further into the frame. The motor area is exposed to potential trail impacts, therefore Scott has developed a new specific skid plate. Codenamed the - Impact Damper. It's reinforced to handle impacts, is covered with a rubber layer to reduce noise and is ventilated to improve drive unit airflow. 2020 Scott Genius eRide eBike Range With 150mm of travel and 29" wheels, the new Scott Genius 2020 electric bikes are highly capable. Offering plenty of travel for most bike parks and technical tracks, whilst still feeling playful on singletrack or XC routes. Scott Genius eRIDE 900 TUNED 2020 The Scott Genius 900 TUNED is the top-spec model in the Genius range. It's the only model to feature a carbon frame, wheels, bars and stem. Offered with top-spec Sram X01 Eagle 12-Speed drivetrain, Shimano XT twin pot disc brakes & full factory series Kashima coated Fox shocks. Priced at £6,799 / More Info - Scott Genius eRIDE 900 TUNED Scott Genius eRIDE 910 2020 The Genius 910 is the mid-spec model offered with Fox suspension front and rear on an alloy frame. Finished with Sram GX Eagle 12-Speed drivetrain, MT520 Shimano disc brakes and an alloy Syncros wheelset. Priced at £5,399 / More Info - Scott Genius eRIDE 910 Scott Genius eRIDE 920 2020 The Genius 920 is the base model for 2020 featuring a similar spec to the above. This time with the entry-level Sram SX group set, Shimano brakes and a Schwalbe Magic Mary Front / Hans Dampf rear tyre combo. Priced at £4,499 / More Info - Scott Genius eRIDE 920 Summary The Genius range has always been a great line up and popular with trail riders. It's a great crossover from regular MTB bike to eMTB, with many already owning a non-pedal assist Scott. The range looks good and we expect the limited edition 900 TUNED model to be popular with its top-end components - It looks incredible! We have models in stock right now with others arriving over the coming months including the Genius 900, which is expected in the new year. Welcome to the next generation of eBike with the new Genius eRIDE 2020. Avant-garde design, cutting edge technologies, integration and advanced battery management. The new Yamaha eBike battery integration looks very similar to the Bosch powered InTube models moving forward for Haibike eBikes in 2019. The 2019 Yamaha eBike Display switch is neat and sits over to the left of the handlebars. Offering the rider vital stats on the fly whilst keeping the cockpit area clear and clutter free. The 1.7" LCD display offers the quick reading of stats like Speed, Battery Capacity & Assist Mode. Leaving more selectable options there but hidden away including details like Trip meter, Overall Odometer & Range. Highlights of 2019 Haibike FLYON eBike System Haibike have been secretly plugging away in their design and research lab to bring, for the first time ever, an exclusive new product line up for Haibike in 2019. Offering more torque, assistance & range than ever before... It's called the FLYON! The motor is designed by a company called TQ. It's super efficient with ultra high torque and ability, specifically designed to meet the demands of eBike riders. Head of Haibike engineering Ingo Beutner says:- The eBike as we know it was completely rethought in order to launch the next generation of ePerformance. With FLYON we have been able to create a system according to our understanding and concepts. This system enables eBike riding as it should feel in our opinion: self-evidently and powerful. All components seamlessly integrate into the overall design, which convinces with a high level of integration. Haibike have designed all the components from the ground up using all their eBike experience to date. The battery uses a whopping 630Wh high-density cell to deliver a huge range. The 2019Haibike 10 amp quick charger charges this high capacity 630Wh battery to 80% within just 60 minutes! It can be charged both on or off the bike as the battery slides out the frame. The system offers 5 levels of assist:- ECO, LOW, MID, HIGH & XTREME. The new colour TFT display offers all the rider credentials in a neat, compact and removable display. Whilst the 2019 Haibike remote over to the left of the bars is quick and simple to navigate the modes. Five lovely bright colours illuminate to show the assistance mode selected alongside the same colours on the display. Easy to see at a quick glance whilst riding! All of this built into a brand new 2019 CARBON frameset by Haibike. This not only brings the weight down but allows complete integration of the system. It also allows Haibike to do special things like integrating lights into the rear swingarm. Not forgetting a front light to match too. All of the cables run through the 2019 carbon frame using specialist channels, so everything looks really neat. They've managed to squeeze in their Haibike 'MRS' (Modular Rail System) so all the Haibike accessories (Bottle, Lock, Tool Bag etc) fit onto the frame too. In true Haibike fashion, the motor is integrated with a skid plate incorporated too, this adds protection & offers complete integration. Lastly Haibike finish off this new 2019 frame set with a stealth seat post built in, so again no cables are exposed. They have built in the speed sensor within the rear swing arm and instead of a magnet on the spokes, the sensor is built into the rear disc. Following the successful first edition of the eConnect system, now the further developed version follows eConnect 2.0. The fact that some of the Yamaha models now feature the InTube battery setup means bikes with integrated batteries are available at an even more affordable price level. There's a 2019 Bosch powered trekking bike in there with the new Bosch ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) which looks really good. The big highlight is the 2019 FLYON equipped electric bikes with assistance & torque levels never before seen via a specialist eBike manufacturer like Haibike before. Expect demand to be high! Haibike has clearly put a huge amount of development into this with so many features that cover all bases for a mix of riders and practicalities. We think they are pushing the boundaries to new levels... Again! When can I get one? We will be taking early 2019 reservations on the range with more basic models arriving from September onwards. You can view the current model line up for 2018 Haibikes here. The models featuring the new Yamaha InTube 500Wh battery should be arriving from November onwards. On top of this clients can special order Carbon Gain eBikes in custom spec colours via the Orbea MyO custom configurator where the factory will produce one-off bikes painted in-house to the customers specified design. The MyO custom configurator can also spec exact component requirements, tailored to each client. Please enquire if this is something of interest & we can run you through the options. What do we think? The current Orbea Gain alloy frame models took us by surprise, we've been overwhelmed with the popularity to date. No other eBike supplier ticks all those boxes when producing an electric road bike that's: Agile, Lightweight, Resistance Free, Fully Integrated and comes with full road groupsets. We expect the demand to be even higher on the new 2019 Carbon bikes to complement to alloy frame models and to top it all off the pricing across the range is extraordinary. In particular, we see the Shimano Ultegra Di2 model (Gain M20) with the fully integrated groupset on the Carbon frame to be one of the most popular models where the eShift completely complements the eDrive system - this is the future, but right now. When can I get one? We are taking behind the scenes orders to reserve bikes and we have already placed factory reservations here to ensure we are the first with stock to hand. Based on the expected popularity, we are taking reservations on a queued basis. For those lucky to get on the list, we expect the first drop of bikes from August, September and October onwards (Depending on spec/size/colour). Bikes will be supplied on a first come first served basis. Models can be reserved with a small £399 deposit or payment upfront on MyO spec models. When Lapierre showed us the 2018 line-up for the new Shimano integrated electric mountain bikes, we were too excited not to shout about it! We take a closer look at the new Overvolts! Lapierre has been on the eMTB scene for many years now, evolving their eBikes as the industry has grown and now with popularity in it's prime, Lapierre unveils the new OVERVOLT. We've already seen the 2018 Bosch powered Overvolt eMTB models, but Lapierre has created a new range to run alongside in a 160/140mm travel offerings. Influencers have included Nico Voullioz (10 times world MTB champion) and Lapierre's in-house design team to create something special. So What's New? Shimano Steps E8000 Motor This is the first time Lapierre have offered a Shimano powered bike in the range. Shimano hit the market with their new E8000 eMTB specific system recently. Lapierre has taken this to the next level with a custom built frame design and battery setup. More on that shortly. Suspension Travel & Wheel Size This is the first full 160mm travel range, offering a great all-around Enduro / Freeride / Trail Center setup for a one-bike-does-it-all kind of vibe. All models are available as either a 160mm travel 27.5+ wheel setup or a 29" 140mm travel set. We'll mainly be concentrating on the popular 27.5+ setup here in the UK. Frame Design & Geometry A whole new geometry setup has been created for the new 2018 Lapierre Overvolt eBikes. This includes a new shorter back end, the weight has been placed further down offering more agile handling and the bottom bracket has been pushed as far back as possible so the traction is on another level. New 'SnakeTech' Battery Tech Whilst on the frame, the battery has been contained within the down tube offering a stronger, more rigid design. The battery can be inserted via a port on the side meaning the downtube retains its rigidity without needing a long exit for the battery. The battery can be charged on or off the bike, both ways are possible due to the 'SnakeTech' design which allows the battery to bend as you insert it into the channel. A first of it's kind! What does this mean in reality? It's a better handling, looking & more nimble bike! Take a look. Today we were invited to Moustache eBikes based in Golbey, to get a first look of the new 2018 Bosch powered electric bikes. Let's learn more about the 2018 range of eBikes. Moustache bikes, now in its 7th season of eBike production, invited us over to France to preview the new 2018 range of electric bikes. Since the beginning, Moustache solely focuses on Bosch powered electric bikes, they are not a standard bike brand configuring existing bikes into eBikes. Hence the superior design, quality and ride you get when it comes to any Moustache electric bike. You can learn more about Moustache in our Moustache eBikes Factory Tour article. New for 2018, Moustache has developed an awe-inspiring range. Featuring many new enhancements across a host of model variants including town, trekking, city mountain bikes and even a tandem eBike! Moustache Samedi 28 2018 Models Last year we saw the 'Hidden Power' battery integration into the Moustache electric mountain bikes. New for 2018 Moustache develops this technology into the new Samedi 28 range of trekking and commuter bikes. Using the latest 2018 Bosch eBike technologies, the Samedi trekking bikes now have fully integrated batteries on certain models. In particular, the Samedi 28.3 2018 models, available in both crossbar and low step variants. Offering a Bosch performance drive coupled with a long range 500Wh battery, 10 speed Shimano gearing and Intuvia display. A great bike for touring, trekking and commuting alike. We'd expect these to be around the £3000 mark with fully integrated mudguards, rack and lighting setup. Moustache Samedi X-Road 2018 Models Alongside the Samedi 28 bikes are a fantastic intermediate between a trekking bike and a mountain bike. Likely to sit just above the £3k mark, forget having two eBikes for different rides. See the X-Road electric bike as a do-it-all machine with all the essentials like mudguards, rack and a lighting system but with a 27" MTB wheel and tyre suitable for all occasions. Like the 28 models, these also have the higher performing Bosch Performance motor and highest spec 500Wh battery. Again available in both crossbar and low step offerings. The neat thing with the new frame design on both crossbar and low step designs is that the battery is completely interchangeable between the 2 variants. Previously you'd have a rack mounted battery on the ladies bike and a frame mount on the gents. Now both crossbar and low step use the frame mounted battery hidden in the frame. Moustache 2018 eMTB Models We had a sell-out year with the 2017 range of Moustache electric mountain bikes, mainly from the decent spec, hidden power and fantastic pricing across the board. 2018 is likely to be no different, with new models announced and improved specifications. The model range has been expanded, to include a higher spec Race 11 160mm Carbon model and also the introduction of a more basic spec entry level Trail 4, 140mm travel option. With the 'Hidden Power' carbon frame models jumping from a previous 3 variants to now 5 models for the 2018 season. The Moustache Samedi electric mountain bikes will all feature the highest performing Bosch CX motor drive system and Purion displays. Likely starting around the £4000 mark for Shimano SLX spec's, with higher performing bikes equipped with the latest Sram EX1 high range (11-50t groupset) anywhere upwards of £8000. When are they available? We will be taking pre orders already on popular models with some in stock right now. Find your 2018 Moustache and view the full range here:- Moustache 2018 Electric Bikes.
