The Cube Kathmandu model gets its name from the place - Kathmandu in Nepal sits at the base of the Himalayan mountains and the Cube Kathmandu Hybrid models are designed for those who want a comfortable, exceptionally well specified bike for riding the road less travelled. With Bosch's most powerful motor and their biggest battery, the Cube Kathmandu hybrid models, known for their exceptional reliability are the perfect personal transport tool for longer rides over sometimes difficult terrain.
The Cube Kathmandu Hybrid is not just one model but an entire range. All of them get Bosch's most powerful Generation 4 CX 85Nm motor and their biggest battery and they all share the same frame, but moving from the Kathmandu Hybrid One, through the Pro, EXC, SLX and SLT, the specification of controller, brakes, gears and suspension increases the price as the value of components increases. These specification changes can be seen at the bottom of each product page.
The Cube Kathmandu comes in three different frame styles - a Crossbar (with a traditional full crossbar), the Uni or "Trapeze" (with a lower crossbar) and the Easy Entry, which has no crossbar at all. Contrary to popular belief, this is nothing to do with rider gender and their frame styles are actually aimed at accessibility. The crossbar being the traditional frame style requires a leg to be thrown over the rear. With the Easy Entry, riders can step right through.
