Have you got an older Bosch Classic+ eBike and a newer Active / Performance line eBike? Tired of swapping chargers over or carrying 2 around with you? Well Bosch have come up with an ingenious answer! Finally all those with the 2 different Bosch eBike styles can use one charger for both battery applications. By using the new inexpensive Bosch adaptor you can use your Performance line battery charger to charge both batteries. Simply just plug the new adaptor into your Performance charger and it doubles up as a Classic+ charging unit. This converts all 2014 onwards Bosch battery chargers to work with the 2013 or earlier Bosch eBike batteries. This should go without saying, but it obviously cannot be used in reverse to charge a later Bosch eBike battery using the older style charger. The Bosch adaptors are in stock now & available now to order from e-bikeshop. You can find these on the dedicated Battery Charger Adaptor page.
Earlier this month we visited Haibike UK to undertake some special dealer official training in anticipation of the new Yamaha powered sDuro electric bikes in the 2015 Haibike eBike range. We strive to exceed in the knowledge and aftersales that we can offer on the eBikes that we sell. So its very important for us to be certified by the manufacturers Yamaha & Haibike themselves. Having visited essential training courses in the past we were extremely excited to get the low down on the new Yamaha eBike system. Although we have already had the Yamaha eBike system in our workshops to test the product and ensure that we can strip down, support & offer the correct spares, just in case they are required further down the line. It was great to cover any issues that we had not previously come across and how to address them correctly. The course started out understanding the product range of new Haibike sDuro eBikes for 2015. We then studied the individual components of the Yamaha electric bike system in detail. Including items like the battery, display, controls, motor & charger.

You may have seen our recent articles supporting Mat Dibb to set a new electric bike world record on the IOM... Well last weekend Mat set off to attempt the fastest man round the Isle of Man TT mountain bike course. Mat, who suffers from chronic kidney disease, will soon require a transplant. Mat came up with the idea of riding the Isle of Man TT mountain bike course on an electric bike to raise money for South West Thames Kidney Fund & also set a new world record at the same time! You can read the opening article here. The original record was set by Conor Cummins. Conor completed the course in 2 hours 41 minutes. This included stopping along the way for a cup of tea at his mums house. Something that Mat replicated on the new record challenge. On the 14th September 2014 Mat set off to the Isle of Man, with his support team & electric bike with a goal to become a new Guinness World Record Holder. We are pleased to announce that Mat completed the course in a staggeringly low time of 1 hour 28 minutes. That smashes the previous record by over an hour!.. Very impressed! Here Mat is getting ready and set up to start the World Record Challenge, last few preps, GoPro being mounted ready. Calm before the storm. Setting off the start line in full anticipation of setting the new Electric Bike World Record! Mat looking rather serious in mid flow here, full attack position, overtaking the boys in Lycra! Mat crosses the line in record breaking time! Looking rather exhausted, the first thing to greet him is his son jumping for a big hug, one proud son right there. The official Guinness World Record lap time now set of 1 Hour 28 minutes & 37 seconds. A rather happy looking Mat as reality sets in that he's set a new World Record on an Electric Bike So there we have it - The fastest man round the Isle of Man TT Mountain Bike Course on an electric bike. Mat completed the course on the Bosch powered Moustache Dimanche electric road bike provided by e-bikeshop. Mat told us what he thought about the bike after setting the world record - "The Moustache Dimanche never missed a beat and without question played a fundamental part in achieving my world record. It's a real wolf in sheep's clothing (a racing sheep!)." We are privileged to have helped Mat complete his challenge, Mat said - "It was the outstanding support from e-bikeshop, and the opportunity to discuss technical requirements in finite detail with Martin Brown that brought this world record within reach. The rest was down to me on the day." Mat actually tracked his route on Strava. This showed just how tough the course was. He travelled a distance of 38.2miles in total covering over 2800 ft of elevation throughout. The toughest part was the last climb at over 1300 ft of climbing. Of which he got to race back down the other side on this fast electric road bike! Lets hope the locals don't come chasing as Mat sets 32 new unbeatable king of the mountains during the event! Oooops! Building up to the event Mat has raised over £1432 with donations still flowing in. Please help Mat to reach his target of £2k raised for South West Kidney Fund. Don't forget although the event is over you can still show support on the official event facebook page here.

We at e-bikeshop are proud to announce we are supporting local eBiker with an Official Guinness World Record attempt to be the fastest around the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course. Rider Mat Dibb Says - I’ve always needed challenges and targets in life to aim for, as a means of motivation and fitness. As an avid supporter and user of electric bicycles, an e-bikeshop.co.uk customer and keen fundraiser I wondered how I could combine all three in my next big challenge. I am also a passionate Motorsport follower, and visit the TT on IOM by e-bike as a spectator most years. Following a long negotiation with Guinness World Records, they finally agreed to creating a new category for me 'Fastest Isle of Man TT Mountain Course - Electric bicycle'. I aim to complete a full lap of the TT mountain course over 38 miles, including climbing the notoriously challenging Snaefell Mountain. The current (unofficial) record has been set by local Manxman and TT motorcycle competitor Conor Cummins of 2hrs 41mins on a Smart electric bike. I am hoping to complete my lap in under 2hrs. Conor says that he stopped for a cup of tea at his Mum's house in Ramsey, something I aim to replicate to keep the challenge honest. Having had a chat with the ever helpful Martin Brown (Director, e-bikeshop.co.uk) he helped identify and source the most suitable e-bike from www.moustachebikes.com for the challenge and the plan was in place. Training-wise, not too much more is needed as I regularly clock up around 150 miles per week on my e-hybrid, and ride off-road for 3-4hrs every Sunday morning on my e-MTB, a Haibike X-Duro. Why are you undertaking this challenge? Well I am myself awaiting kidney transplant due to a long term kidney disease. I'm also a committee member of The Kidney Fund. Like many other deserving charities we are reliant solely upon charitable donations. This event will not only give me the opportunity to raise much needed funds, but also to promote kidney health awareness generally. The support of friends, family and of course the generosity of e-bikeshop.co.uk so far has been nothing short of incredible. So the pressure is now on, and now it's down to me! When is the event taking place? The challenge will take place in 1 month's time, on 14th September 2014. Get Involved Please help Mat by following his progress at https://www.facebook.com/MatsTTWR and help him reach his target of 1,000 likes. We wish Mat good luck and hope you will follow from the build up, training and live reports. Update: We did it!!

E-bikeshop are very excited to announce the collaboration that will unite Haibike and Yamaha eBike systems. This was following our visit to Schweinfurt (Germany) this weekend that saw a brand new product range launched by Haibike - the sDURO. Haibike announces a brand new product range that will feature a newly developed Yamaha eBike system that will take the European market by storm. When, where, who? Haibike invited us over to take part in a fantastic weekend, with some big news expecting to be announced. We knew Haibike had a big secret that they were eager to tell us, so we joined them at the Mercure hotel in Schweinfurt on Saturday 19th July to see what all the fuss was about. With many new lines and features to talk about there was lots to take in and get excited about. Susanne Puello (Winora Group CEO) introduced us by telling the Haibike story from when it all began and where they are all now, Susanne went on to say - When we produced our first eMTB, all the other bicycle suppliers laughed at us and said that we were crazy! Now today all of these manufacturers are following in our foot steps trying to grab some of our market share. We will stay ahead of the game! But the main thing on the agenda was kept top secret right up until the point of being announced. Whats the big news? Felix Puello (Haibike Brand Manager) invited Minoru Morimoto (Yamaha's Executive Director) onto the stage to tell us about the new Yamaha electric bike system, Mr Morimoto went on to say - We are very proud to see our newly developed eBike system in Europe on Haibike sDuro's. We have actually already been developing Yamaha eBike systems since 1993. We were one of the first crank drive suppliers and own 53% of the market share in Japan. We produce over 300,000 eBike systems a year and to date have 2.7 million Yamaha electric bikes out on the road worldwide. Mr Morimoto even jokes when showing us the stats in comparison to other eBike system suppliers (Bosch), the Yamaha system is so advanced and ahead of our competitors, the system offers many benefits including 70Nm of torque which peaks at 80Nm, Mr Morimoto points at the board and says - 60Nm of torque, (smiles), who even is this other supplier? Mr Morimoto (Yamaha) at Haibike product launch 2015 This is followed by Felix Puello (Haibike Brand Manager) telling us how excited Haibike are to be working with Yamaha in this new venture into the sDURO line up, Mr Puello goes on to say - The sDURO is for the next 'eGeneration' of electric cyclists, it is aimed at the younger riders - the styling, price and function is all based around this. We are very excited to be presenting the new sDURO range which features the latest Yamaha eBIke technology. We have been working with Yamaha to develop this new system for the past 2 years & now it is finally here! Everything from motor integration to battery design has been re-developed between us and Yamaha to bring a whole new contender to the market. We will explain more about the new sDURO range in details in another article, expect to see this up shortly. We will also do a complete review and write up of the new Yamaha eBike system as we had the chance to ride one a prototype for approx 3.5hours through the local singletrack in Schweinfurt. What do we think? In all we think this is a bold move for Haibike, they are certainly dominating the market and with this new system on board the competition bar is set at a high level for other eBike system providers. We think that it will be healthy competition and should help progress the eBike market at an even faster rate. We will do a full write up on the comparison between Yamaha and Bosch to discuss, in detail, the pro's and con's of each system. Say hello to the next 'eGeneration'! Check out the: First ride review on the Yamaha eBike system Check out the: First Look: Yamaha eBike System Overview 2015
E-bikeshop are very excited to announce their expansion into a new electric bike sales & distribution center set to open in Farnham on the Hampshire / Surrey border in the summer of 2014. They have expanded at a huge rate over the past few years, E-bikeshop started and still are, operating as a normal cycle shop in Petersfield, Hampshire. They expanded to a second site in Alton, Hampshire which is double the size of their original one. Still operating out of 2 stores they have now outgrown both with their eBikes, they will be moving all of their electric bike sale and support to a new site set to open shortly in Farnham, Surrey. The new sales & distribution center will be just focussing on electric bikes. E-bikeshop have expanded its range to suit this and will be offering a good selection of Bosch & Panasonic crank driven eBikes from popular European suppliers such as Raleigh, Moustache & Haibike. Managing Director, Martin Brown said -"We are now opening up on a new site that allows us to be a central hub that can serve not just locals but the whole UK market. Customers are welcome to book an appointment to talk through the various models on offer (along with a coffee), they can then take it away after talking through every aspect of the eBike to make sure they are happy from our showroom. But we can also talk customers through on the phone and get electric bikes to customers anywhere in the UK on a next day basis - providing phone support to those further afield to ensure a good long term relationship. We are now the largest dealer in the UK for the brands that we stock and are continuing to grow at a rapid pace. The key for us is to keep our customers happy, both at point of purchase and in the long term. In fact a major of our sales is from previous customers coming back to buy a new model, or to bring their friends who have recommended to pay us a visit. A happy customer is the best form of advertising possible and with that we don't have to advertise so much and can focus more of our time onto our customers. Our customer testimonials speak for themselves, with back-up and support being the key. Our roots are also in a proper shop, not a warehouse. This is important - all our eBikes are properly built in our workshops to the highest standards by our professional technicians. A properly set-up eBike is an important part of making sure it remains a reliable long term machine and we can ensure this with our passionate Bosch & ATG trained technicians. The new site will allow us to show off a larger selection in a bigger showroom, it also allows us to hold more stock so that when that decision is made, the eBike is available to hand ready to go. Alongside the big move we have launched our new website, facebook pages, youtube channels and of course our popular blog information pages. We have demo days and lots of events planned for 2014 so keep an eye on the new events section of our blog which is set to go live shortly. On top of all of that we have been a official UK Bosch service center and parts supplier for many years and we have recently expanded our website to show all Bosch and Panasonic spares available and are holding good stock of these spare parts should they be required." Alongside the new latest selection of 2014 electric bikes, e-bikeshop have a large range of parts and accessories available. The idea is to have it all under one roof so that customers can get everything sorted in one big destination store. 2014 is set to be another big year for e-bikeshop, we will update with another article soon once they are up and running at the new site to get a further insight into what they will be offering, along with some nice pictures. In the meantime should you wish to contact Martin or the team all of the details are available on their website - www.e-bikeshop.co.uk
A while back we here at e-bikeshop secured the sole rights to import the Bosch eBike Battery Pack cover into the UK for the Berlin manufacturers Fahrer. We have kept it quiet but are now too excited so had to blab about it. We have new stock arriving in Jan 2014 of the Bosch Classic+ Battery. The new 2014 Bosch Performance & Active Line covers will be arriving in mid Feb 2014.The Bosch PowerPack cover is designed to hide the battery away and keep it protected from the elements. It also keeps the PowerPack within the best temperature range for the battery to operate in cold winter conditions. Conversely in the summer it can help protect the battery from direct sunlight which can also heat up to temperatures outside of its preferred zone. The winter can have a huge affect on the battery. In fact in sub zero conditions you can loose 25% of the batteries range operating outside of its optimum temperature. The Bosch battery cover can help protect the battery from these conditions and wind chill. It also helps to keep your battery clean in all conditions, you can remove the battery without removing the cover which is a real bonus, meaning it can stay on there all of the time. The 4.5mm thick neoprene cover prevents the battery getting scratched and allows some cushioning to knocks. The Fahrer battery cover really hugs the battery tight and is secured to the battery to prevent it moving around. This Bosch PowerPack cover is available in 3 versions as follows and can be ordered from our website - The Classic + For Frame mounted Batteries 2012, 2013+ model years :Its really neat and has cut outs so you can still see the battery level indicator LED's and have access to the power button. The cover itself does not get in the way of the key operation at all. The Rack Style Battery for model years 2012, 2013, 2014+ : This offers the same features as the frame style but takes a new shape for Bosch batteries mounted on the pannier rack, often found on ladies electric bikes or step through frame styles. The Performance & Active Line for the 2014 system : Offering a revised shape for the new style battery this cover slips over smoothly and has a velcro tab at the bottom to stop it sliding about. All of the above covers fit both the 300Wh & 400Wh Bosch eBike batteries. At a recent meeting with Bosch, although not their own product, Bosch themselves highly recommended this product for their PowerPack's pointing out all of the benefits above. They are available for pre order, we have the Classic & Rack mount covers arriving in Jan 2014. The Active & Performance LIne Battery Covers are in production as we speak and comes into stock in Feb 2014. Please visit the e-bikeshop online shop to buy or to view more details.
I know some of you have already been asking me about the new 2014/15 Bosch kit, so here is a glance at some more details. The current motor will follow through to next year and run alongside the new motor design. Its likely the new motor will only be mounted on higher end models and there will probably be a decent price tag alongside these bikes. The current motor will still be the most popular choice for manufacturers. Down to lead times and cost at present. Its likely the new motor will be a more popular choice on 2015 models which we are a long way off yet. There will be 2 classes of motor available - the Performance Line & Active LineThe Performance line will offer assistance levels up to 275% with the active line offering a more subtle 225%. New Performance Line With the Performance Line, a drive system exists today for all who have recognised ebikes as the most modern form of transportation: for fast riders, for the physically fit, for commuters and for anyone who likes to ride dynamically. In short, for anyone who has no time to lose or who wants to transcend new athletic limits. Whether with Cruise (25 km/h) or Speed (45 km/h), the Performance Line brings a mass of energy and momentum to the street, to the dirt road, to the pass, to the single trail. The powerful drive system is both impulsive and controllable. With the highest precision, its performance is combined with that of the ebiker, generating sporty support that dominates every terrain and every gear. From flat to steep. From moderate to full power. The inner values are complemented by an equally impressive exterior. Design and ergonomics combine a high level of aesthetics and usability. Drive Unit The difference is the technology behind the new modern anthracite-coloured design of the components. With 1000 sensor readings per second, the Drive Units Performance Cruise (25 km/h) and Speed (45 km/h) continuously calculate the actual and target speed of the journey. The drive thus transmits force that is perfectly matched to the ebiker. The optimal balance of performance and range is also a matter of pure enjoyment. Intuvia Display Unit In a new design to match the lines, the cycle computer Intuvia is something to be seen: in the colours of anthracite in the Performance Line and platinum in the Active Line. With Intuvia Performance and Intuvia Active, high-precision distance measurements are also possible. The ebiker himself can make fine adjustments to the wheel circumference at the touch of a button. A USB port allows you to charge external hardware such as smartphones and MP3 players. Both Performance and Active line's offer the ability of switching between the five riding modes plus walk assistance and calling up information such as speed, charging state, distance and much more could not be easier.Even when removed from the ebike, Intuvia remains a useful information tool that makes it possible for you to retrieve all your tour data. Power Pack The PowerPacks 300 and PowerPacks 400 are the batteries with unparalleled energy density. They are now even easier to install and remove, and they also support charging directly on the bike. A special charging socket with a protective cover provides maximum safety during charging. Charger Together with its cable, the Charger weighs less than 800 grams. The improved charging plug and a practical hook-and-loop strip for cable sorting simplify handling. The new battery charging device is designed without air vents, which prevents contamination and makes it more robust. Range Estimations (In Km/h) This kit looks exciting, offering assistance levels up to 275%.. We will probably look at getting this kit onto the bikes in 66 months or so once the system is a little tried and tested and any teething problems refined out. Like I said above the current (tried and tested) Bosch kit will continue to be used with many ebikes and will run alongside the new kit rather than be replaced. View our Bosch powered Electric Bikes
